ECM/AP-PROJECT

With support from UNICEF, MedRAP is currently implementing a project titled “Advocacy and Community Mobilization on Ending Child Marriages and Adolescent Pregnancies” in 17 districts across six provinces, namely Lusaka, Copperbelt, Luapula, Southern, Eastern, and North-Western Provinces. This project focuses on promoting the rights, health, and well-being of adolescents, with particular emphasis on ending child marriage and adolescent pregnancy.

Through the country programme (2023-2027), UNICEF Zambia is committed to supporting the Government in delivering policies and programmes that are sensitive and responsive to adolescent needs. Recognizing the gender disparities between adolescent girls and boys, programming aims to underscore and promote the rights of adolescent girls to ensure their equal access to education, health services, protection, and opportunities.

The programme will ensure meaningful participation of adolescent girls, young women, and affected communities in decision-making processes.

While adolescent girls are at the centre of these interventions, the programming also includes reaching adolescent boys, recognizing their role as critical agents of change who contribute to providing a safe and supportive environment for girls.
