- March 28th: MedRAP hosted a half-day engagement with health facility Sisters-in-Charge and local councilors in Livingstone. The interactive session led to several tangible outcomes, including:
- Civic leaders identifying structures suitable for conversion into adolescent-friendly spaces.
- councilors donating a container, which the District Health Office is seeking to furnish as a youth-friendly space through the Ward Development fund.
Solutions for Supporting Healthy Rights and
Protection (SHARP) partners from Burundi, DRC, Rwanda Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia met in Zambia-Livingstone
for the reflection meeting which commenced on 2 nd
April, 2025.
Livingstone Mayor Constance Nalishebo opened the 3-
day work and emphasized the need for comprehensive
interventions which include education, contraception
and community support.
The Livingstone district Health Director Dr Malungwe
Kalaluka demonstrated commitment to supporting
adolescent health program.
Southern Province Minister Credo Nanjuwa who
officiated the interface commended Medicines Research
and Platform (MedRAP) for implementing a project
aimed at ensuring accessible, affordable and
available and quality SRH services in the spirit of
Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The SHARP adolescent champions are ready to move the
adolescent energy to change policy and commitment in
relation to Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH).
The meeting engaged key stakeholders highlighting
significant health sector development and advocacy.
SHARP, funded by the European Union, sets out to
improve the health and well-being of adolescents in
the Great Lakes Region (Burundi, DRC, Kenya, Rwanda,
Tanzania and Zambia), and address religious and
cultural barriers young people face in accessing
quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and
family planning services.
