MeTA Zambia work plan includes the review of pilot phase research and position papers, dissemination of data to the public, workshops on transparency and accountability in the procurement of medicines.
These workshops were held in Lusaka on 22 August 2013 at Amaka Lodge and on 27 September 2013 at Wasawange lodge in Livingstone. MeTA Zambia also held CSO sensitization workshops on 27 August 2013 in Solwezi, 29 August 2013 at Fatmols Lodge in Ndola and on 22 October 2013 at TECLA Lodge in Lusaka.
Other activities in the work plan that have been implemented are 26 radio programmes on ZNBC’s Radio 4 from July 2013 to February 2014. Two programmes each were also broadcast on local stations at Radio Kabangabanga in Solwezi, Sun FM in Ndola and Radio Mosi-oa-Tunya in Livingstone.
Further activities have been implemented in 2014 that include CSO information sharing on 26 June 2014, MeTA Council meetings on 20 February and 25 June 2014, CSO sensitization workshops on 18 July 2014 in Kabwe and on 28 July 2014 in Livingstone and discussions to set up the CSO Coalition for Transparency in Medicines on 27 and 29 August 2014. Other activities include studies on efficiency in procurement at Medical Stores, the MeTA Forum to mark 50 years of pharmaceutical services in Zambia at Chrismar hotel on 28 August 2014 and the Round Table on local manufacturing of medicines held on 18 September 2014 at Courtyard Hotel.
